Harry Potter ******Spoiler Warning*********

*****WARNING, SPOILERS INCLUDED!!!*****
***************************************
***************************************
Well, finally finished the book at 4.10am this morning. I am so glad there was a happy ending, as far as there could have been. What I mean is I am glad Harry, Hermionie and Ron didn't die, and that Voldermort did.
The saddest loss for me was Dobby dieing half way through, I sobbed my heart out all through that section. I was happy to see Kreacher turn to a nicer house elf after being shown kindness and understanding, and that Dumbledore had a murky past made him more real, as he was not perfect. I always had faith in Dumbledores trust in Snape, and it was interesting to see his and Lillys background together explained, that it was his love for her that turned him away from Voldermort, its just a shame he died before the truth came out. Mad eye moodys death was quite sudden but set the pace right at the start, continuing with George losing an ear, and Hedwig sadly dieing. Then right at the end we loose Fred, Lupin and Tonks, and the more sad as Lupin and Tonks had not long been married and had a Baby Son. All in all the ending was perfect, Harry has to die as he is the last Horacrux, but the small part of Voldermorts soul dies and Harry lives, marries Ginny and has 3 kids! Ron and Hermionie marry and have kids too! I was sad to finished the last book in the series, but the way all the lose endings were tied up left me feeling satisfied.

Harry Potter Film and the New Book

Well, the film was great, as I expected. Lots of the book missing, but did not detract from the story. Was dissapointed that the fight scene in the Ministry for Magic wasn't closer to the book description. Overall it was fab though, and when it finished everyone watching started applauding, I have never seen that reaction at the cinema!
The book is due out in 2 minuites as I write this, mine is coming in the post in the morning. I have been re-reading The half blood Prince ready to follow on to the new one, can't wait!

Big Brother!

Ok! This series has been painfull to watch with all the fighting Girlies, but finally some men in tonight, now the girls can fight over them! Crazy show, but I find myself addicted every year without fail, would love to do it, but not on t.v, just as a phycolocical experiment, no way would I want to be on t.v or be a recognized face when I go out. Well off to make some cards with BB on in the background.

After thoughts of my trip.

One of the lovely Ladies from the trip has sent me the link to her PhotoBucket site and I have put some of the photos here, they were taken by Pauline, and a link to her Blog is in my Links list titled Too many hobbies. The Fraser insignia is important to the trip, as it is the crest of the main character, Jamie Fraser, of the Diana Gabaldon books that the tour was based on. Je suis prest means "I am ready". The books start after the second world war and Claire and her husband are having a second honeymoon in Scotland, where they married. Whilst out picking flowers and herbs, claire comes to a group of standing stones (the photo of all of us at the standing stones at Clava Cairns are similar to those in the book), she 'falls' through the stones and finds her self in 1743 in the lead up to the battle of Culloden (the photo in costume is outside Culloden House where we stayed for two nights). She ends up having to marry a young Jacobite called Jamie Fraser, and the romance starts as love blossoms, the series of books follows these two characters to and beyond Culloden (picture of drawing of the battle is above), and the most recent book sees them in America in the lead up to the Civil War with their grown daughter Brianna. There is so much to these books and I would recommend them to everyone, you will be hooked! The books are: Crosstitch (or Outlander in U.S), Dragonfly in Amber, Voyager, Drums of Autumn, The Fiery Cross and A Breath of Snow and Ashes. I am waiting avidly for the next book to come out, but sadly I think it will be the last in the series.
Looking back through all the photos I took and that Pauline took has set me on memory ride, and I so wish I was still in Scotland on the tour, surrounded by all the fab people you can see in the photos. I have some of my best memories of that trip, and the people I met I will always remember, and cherish, each in different ways. We all had a common bond in the books as to why we were on the tour, and the fact that we actually liked each other was such a bonus. Judy who runs the tours is a fabulous Lady, and such fun, full of knowledge and with a great love of Scotland. Kris, our Driver, well we couldn't have asked for better. He was so friendly to all of us, and so easy to talk to, he was the cherry on the cake that was the trip! And I wish love and luck to Bonnie and Sybil, Pauline, Ruth and Lynette, and Jack, who all made this trip so special by just being there and being themselves.

Outlander Tour

Well, got some of my photos on photobucket, click Scotland photobucket in links to view.
It was a fab trip, through Celtic journeys (see links).

Monday 4 June 2007

The wanderer returns!

Well, I arrived back from Scotland late yeasterday afternoon. I went on a week tour with Celtic Journeys. The tour was based on a series of books by Diana Gabaldon, in America they are called the Outlander series. I went on the trip with my Mum, we flew to Glasgow on Saturday 26th May and stayed at the airport Holiday Inn. The next day the tour started just after 10am on our coach. There were 8 of us on the tour. Besides my Mum and I were 6 Americans, who were all fab and the group bonded really well. Also our Driver Kris and the tour operator Judy. During the tour we visted Lord Cromerty at Castle Leod and Culloden Field, and stayed at Culloden House for 2 nights. We finally ended the tour with 2 days in Edinburgh at the Roxburghe Hotel.
I will be posting more on this trip and pictures, once I have done all my Holiday washing!!!
